Moorea Ecotourism

Moorea - This island is visible from the island of Tahiti and is easily accessible by ferry. If you see this island from above, it's somewhat resembles a fork. If you take the time to visit this beautiful land, make sure that you pay particular attention to the bays that make up the two forks. They truly are an amazing sight.Moorea is a tropical island only 30 minutes away from Tahiti by ferry and 15 minutes by air. It’s known to many travelers as a gigantic, beautiful natural garden. From its white and black sand beaches, to its luscious rain forests, to the natural waterfalls, Moorea offers sights and sounds not found anywhere else in the world.

Moorea is surrounded on every side by coral reefs. Often times, dolphins and whales are attracted to the coast of Moorea. Other water activities, such as snorkeling and scuba diving, will reveal unbelievable underwater sights.

On the mainland itself are tall and majestic mountains. Hikes through these mountains will reveal beautiful, untainted rain forests, roaring waterfalls and canals, and many other sights. Moorea’s also known for its white and black sand beaches, a rare phenomenon anywhere in the world. It’s no exaggeration to say that Moorea’s beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world.

Not only is Moorea a beautiful sight to see, it also has a magnificent history. On a lookout in the mountains of Moorea, is a view of the island that was once only available to the gods.

The island itself is filled with lore and Polynesian history. In fact, Moorea has been likened to James Michener’s mythological island of Bali Ha’i.

MOOREA ECOTOURS

Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do in Moorea. There are water sports, adventures, recreation, shopping and just plain old relaxation!

Relaxing on the beach is certainly an idyllic vacation but there are many other relaxing activities you can do on Moorea. These include circle island tours, motu picnics, private lagoon tours, cruises, massages and more. In fact, you might even wear yourself out from too many relaxing activities!

Water sports on Moorea are diverse. There is a choice of sailing, scuba diving, windsurfing, surfing, swimming, kite surfing and jet skiing.

Adventure tours and activities can include parasailing, shark and ray feeding, hiking, four wheel drive safaris, horseback riding, nature sight seeing, fishing, camping and climbing.

There are many recreational activities available on Moorea too including bike riding, volleyball, tennis, walking and billiards amongst others.

If you are interested in the local culture and services then take a visit to an art gallery, gift shops, local boutiques and don't miss the Black Pearls and jewelry.

Moorea is certainly kitted out for tourists but this does not take away from the magic and beauty of this place. You still feel as if you are in a tropical paradise despite the presence of tourist operations which are a little more abundant than some the smaller Tahiti island destinations.

Moorea is a popular honeymoon and romantic getaway spot. If this is the purpose of your visit then consider a catamaran sunset cruise. This romantic cruise goes for 90 minutes and takes in the Cook's Bay area. It is well priced at around $70 per person and is certainly an event that you and your partner will remember forever.

For those with a more adventurous side you may enjoy a 4WD safari tour. You'll have some wonderful views from your 4WD vehicle and the guide will tell you about historical and archeological facts of the area. Whilst not a rough and tumble African 4wd adventure, the Moorea safari is a comfortable and relaxing way to experience and learn about the this location.

Moorea is a magnificent destination for your next vacation and offers a plethora of activities that ensures people of all ages and interests will be entertained.

The Beachcomber interconti Moorea have dolphins were you can watch or swim with, the Moorea Dolphin Center. Also a turtle nursery "Sea Turtle Care Center" is located in the same place.

The Pearl Resorts and Spa have a coral nursery that contributes to the preservation of bio-diversity called To'a nui.
