TAHITI ECOTOURS

Tahiti provides a huge array of choices for the energetic traveler. Some people come here to do absolutely nothing besides laze on the spectacular beaches and soak up the sun's rays. Others want to fit as many activities in as they possible can. There are literally endless activities you can take part in in Tahiti, many of them water sports but there is also fun to be had on the land.

Water Activities

As you would expect, there are countless things you can do in the waters of Tahiti. These include surfing, scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking or simply just swimming. If you wish to go snorkeling or surfing then ask your resort if they have free equipment hire; many offer this service to guests.

Point Venus: Black sand beaches make up this part of the peninsula. Captain Cook any other famous historic explorers landed here and as such this site has not only a beautiful natural aura to it, but a rich history as well.

Fautaua Waterfall: Visit one of the tallest waterfalls in the world. The Fautaua Waterfall has almost 1000 feet of water blasting down volcanic cliffs. Bring your camera for this one!

Maraa Grotto: Get off the beaten path and visit Maraa Grotto. This is a black water lake that presents an optical illusion by making the cave appear a lot smaller than it really is. It will take you a minute or two to work out that it really is an illusion!

Surfing: The main island of Tahiti is considered a world class surfing location. Some of the top surfing spots include Teahupoo, Matavai Point, Point Venus, Papara and Fishermans Point.

Hiking: If you love hiking then Tahiti itself is the best place to be. One of the best trails on this main island is 12km long and runs from the west coast of Tahiti to Te Pari Cliffs. On this walk you'll view some amazing valleys that are hidden away from all besides those who venture near. You will also be amazed by the beautiful coast line scenery along most of the trail.

For those with a little more stamina you can climb 2000 meters to the top of Aorai. It is a 10km trail but a rather steep one and huts are provided for overnight stays.

There are also many shorter hikes and walks around the island of Tahiti and the surrounding smaller islands.

One thing is for sure; you will never be bored in Tahiti! The only difficult part is deciding what to do next!
